My husband and I had our wedding reception at The Salutation Inn, we had a wonderful day and we could not fault such a lovely reception.  The service was impeccable from our first meeting with Amelia to the time we left that night, the food was amazing and beautifully presented.  We had such lovely feedback from our guests regarding the whole package, we had family stay in most of the rooms and they thought it was so good they have come back to stay again for a short holiday.

I cannot recommend The Salutation Inn highly enough and it made our day very special.  Thank you to the whole team for all your efforts.

I turned to Amelia and her team the moment I started to plan my September wedding. Living in France but planning a wedding in Devon is no easy feat but thanks to all the help I got from the Salutation Inn any problems were easily ironed out, as they went above and beyond the service of most high end restaurants and hotels. But then this is no ordinary place. Best friends, coming from all over the Europe and the USA, were delighted with their rooms (some deciding to stay for a week and enjoy the surrounding area) and loved the added bonus of the fabulous pantry supplying everything from good coffee to homemade biscuits and toast day or night, perfect for those who had to leave early in the morning or others who simply pinged awake with jet lag.

Amelia helped me plan a wonderfully intimate ‘Ladies Dinner’ in lieu of a hen night the evening before the wedding. The private dining area could not have been more beautiful with 29 of us enjoying the delicious food and wine that the Salutation is known for. Following Prosecco and canapes in the lounge, locally sourced dishes went down a treat as did the unforgettable Salted Caramel Fondant dessert (now a thing of legend amongst my friends) which led to the chef being brought in and fawned over by everyone in the room. Any man trying to impress a lady should definitely learn that recipe – winner!

For my three night stay I took over the amazing master suite which was absolutely perfect for getting ready on the wedding morning. Supplies of warm croissants and freshly squeezed juice were brought to the room (although we all wanted the amazing home cooked breakfast in the restaurant too) and there was so much space that the throng of friends drinking champagne, photographers, hairdressers and make-up artists coming and going made it feel like a party rather than a tight squeeze. I have no idea how brides get ready in a regular room! My huge dress took centre stage, surrounded by veil, shoes and flowers, so everyone could admire it. It was like getting ready in a fabulous apartment and I loved being able to have the room and space for all my friends to come and go and share the getting ready without it feeling stressful.

Best of all were the Salutation staff – from day one of planning to the day itself they helped with every query, big and small, from advice to the best local hairdresser to finding somewhere on the day to hire a hat! On the night of the Ladies Dinner the manager even walked my friend back to a different hotel down the road where she was staying so she didn’t have to walk alone late at night. That, is service. Everyone seemed genuinely delighted to be part of the wedding whirlwind which made the day feel even more special.

I cannot thank the Salutation Inn enough. As anyone who has or is planning a wedding will know, it can be a nightmare with so many decisions to be made and the desire for everything to be perfect. Choosing the Salutation Inn takes all that stress away so you can simply delight in their food, revel in the intimate atmosphere and enjoy every wonderful moment of being with your friends and family in a lovely place to share a lovely day because you know, behind the scenes, they are working super hard to make everything run seamlessly so you don’t have to worry about a thing.

We celebrated a small family wedding at The Salutation earlier this month and had a fabulous time. We also stayed for the weekend in the hotel.

The bedroom was lovely, and impeccably clean. I’ve never seen a hotel bathroom so well cleaned, all credit to the housekeeping staff. Huge comfortable bed, spacious room tastefully decorated. Access to a well-equipped small kitchen for guests to use (rather than a fiddly little kettle in the room) to make hot drinks, also kitted out with biscuits, other treats and breakfast cereals should you be peckish in the night!

Breakfast – and the food in general – was excellent. Although the Salutation is a lovely boutique hotel, and very comfortable to stay in, the true star of the show is the food. Our wedding meal was fantastic.

In summary, a real gem in a lovely village. Staff are very good at what they do but come across as relaxed at the same time, there is no hint of stuffiness. A great place to eat and stay.

Claire and I decided to visit Tom and Amelia at the Salutation Inn after hearing so many good comments both on here and locally to host our wedding. We were immediately struck by the warmth of their welcome and interest to give us a wedding day to remember and from the planning to the execution on the day the experience was faultless. We enjoyed a full taster menu after our initial discussions and enjoyed picking some wonderful wines to complement the food and nothing was ever too much trouble. We often popped in for coffee or a wonderful cream tea in the run up to the day, just to show people where the day was going to be held.

Claire and I opted to have exclusive use of the venue and some of our guests spent two nights in the hotels classy bedrooms, whilst we made use of the bridal suite on the top floor. Amelia and her front of house team took care of everything and the venue looked and felt wonderful, whilst Tom and the kitchen staff created the most amazing and tasty food, which so many of our guests commented on, as being the best wedding breakfast they had ever enjoyed.

The smooth running ran into the evening festivities where more delicious food was on offer and the guests drank bubbles and danced the night away. To ANY prospective brides or grooms if you want a wedding venue delivering the finest food, attention to detail, supported by people who really care about your special day, all at exceptional value for money, then please pop by and speak with Tom and Amelia, they will welcome you as they did us.

Thank you so much for an incredible day that we will always remember for the remainder of our lives.
